Additional Comments: It is believed that Cordelia Pearsall was the daughter of a William Frank Pearsall and Anne Blackmore of Duplin County. Cordelia had brothers Iley White Pearsall (1861 - and Earnest Blackmore Pearsall, both of whom died in New York. The 1870 census for Kenansville, Duplin, has listed an Ann Blackmore, Mulatto, a cook on William Dickson Pearsall's plantation. The 1880 census for Limestone, Duplin has Ann Pearsall, single, Mulatto, aged 35 (born 1845), along with her daughter, Cordelia Pearsall, Mulatto, aged 20, plus four children, three of whom are listed as Black, and one little girl of 4, Minnie Pearsall, as Mulatto. Her children are also listed as Mulatto Blackmores-- Cordelia, Iley, Emma, and a Judith Pearsall, age 12, a black female Nurse. Ernest Blackmore Pearsall, said on his brother Iley's death certificate that his mother's name was Ann Blackmore and his father was William Pearsall, no middle name. A search for the burial record or burial place of Cordelia Pearsall in Elmwood Cemetery in Goldsboro has met with no success.
