The ceremony took place in the Presbyterian church which was tastefully decorated for the occasion. The Rev P McIntyre performed the ceremony. The waiters were: Miss Sallie Hicks of Goldsboro, Miss Annie Southerland of Mount Olive, Miss Annie John of Goldsboro, Miss Isabel Fairley of Manchester and the Misses Lydia Fryer, Gambel Hines, Sallie Hines and Nellie DeVone of Faison. The ushers were: Messrs Raymond L Weatherly of Baltimore, and Faison Pierce of Warsaw, I F Hicks and J L Faison, of Faison. The groom was supported by his brother, Mr C J Weatherly of Baltimore while Mrs W L Hicks of Wilmington acted as dame of honor to the bride who was given away by her brother, Captain L T Hicks. A large audience of friends and well wishers witnessed the ceremony, and afterwards gathered at the depot where the newly married pair took the north bound train for Baltimore, Philadelphia, Cape May, New York and other northern points. The bride, attired in a gray traveling gown, looked sweet and pretty. A reception was held Monday night from 9 to 12 o'clock at the residence of Captain L T Hicks where a large concourse of friends and relatives enjoyed a very pleasant evening. Miss Hicks is deservedly very popular with our entire community and the heartiest good wishes go with her in her new sphere, while Mr Weatherley is congratulated as a very fortunate man.
