State of No. Carolina
Duplin County

Know all men by these Presents that we Stephen Pipkin and William Thomson both 
of the County aforesaid are held and formly bound unto His Excellency Richard 
Caswell Esqr. Governor &c of the said State in the full sum of five hundred 
pounds current money of the said State to be paid to the said Governor or his 
successors in office to which payment will and truly to be made we bind 
ourselves each of our own executors and administrators jointly and severally 
formerly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 21st day of 
April 1779.

The condidtion of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Stephen 
Pipkin above bound hath the day of the date thereof made appliccation to the 
Clerks office in our said County for license to celebrate and solemnize the 
rites of marriage between his the said Stephen Pipkin and Amelia Thomson both 
of the said County single woman and hath obtained the same Now if it shall not 
happen at any time hereafter there be will be any lawfull cause to obstruct 
the said marriage Then the above obiligation shall be void and of no force 
otherwise to stand and remain in full force and virtue.
