State of N Carolina

         Duplin County } Know all men by these presents that we – 

                         James Grimes and John Winders, both of the County 
aforesaid are held and firmly Bound unto his Excellency Richard Caswell, Esquire
Governor of the said State in the just + full sum of Fifty pounds Proclamation
money to be paid to the said Governor_ or his successors for the use of the 
State to which payment will and truly to be made, we find ourselves each of us
jointly and separately firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and Dated
this 19th day of February 1777.

                         The consideration of the above Obligation is such that
whereas the said James Grimes above Bound hath the Day of the Date came and 
made application with the Clerk’s Office of the County of Duplin for a License 
to Celebrate the rights of marriage between him the said James Grimes and Sarah 
Winders of

                       and hath obtained the same
the said County, Spinster  ^ Now if there shall not be any lawful cause, or 
Impediments to obstruct the said marriage, then the above obligation
to be void, otherwise to remain in full force + virtue.
