A, p. 497-498 Will of John WILLIAMS Written: 2 August 1758 Probated: August 1761 In the name of God, Amen, the second day of August in yr of Our Lord 1758. I, John WILLIAMS of Duplin County in his Majesties Province of North Carolina, Planter, being sick in body but of good and Perfect Memory thanks be to Almighty God and Calling to Remembrance the uncertainty Estate of this transitory life and that all people must held to death when it shall please God to Call do make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in Manner and form following first being penitent and sorry for all my Sins most humbly desiring forgiveness for the same & Commend my Soul to unto Almighty God my Savior and Redeemer whom and by whose Merits and believes assuredly to be Saved and to have full remission and forgiveness of all my Sins to inherit the Kingdom of heaven and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the direction of my Executors hereinafter Named and further disposing of my temporal Estate and such goods chattels and debts as it both Cleared good to bestow upon me, I do ordain give and dispose the same in Manner and form following Improvise I give unto my Beloved wife Prudence WILLIAMS after all my Lawful debts are Paid the Liberty to Live upon and Improved the one half of my Plantation which I now Live upon and one half of my houses and one half of my household stuff and one half of my Stock both Cattle horses hogs and sheep so long as the ---? to him my widowhood on her marriage or death to Return unto my Son, James WILLIAMS. Item: I give and Bequeath unto my beloved Son John WILLIAMS all my Rites to a Plantation which I formerly lived at for? Plantation --- And? Negro MARY and her child ROSE at my wife's death and I likewise give unto him one Ewe and Lamb and one son and? Pigs. Item: I give and Bequest unto my beloved Daughter Charity PRESCOT? besides what she has already had one Ewe and Lamb and one Sow and pigs. Item: I give and Bequeath unto my beloved daughter Percilla BARFIELD besides what she has already had one Ewe and Lamb and one Sow and Pigs. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son, James WILLIAMS all my Plantation which I now live upon with all my land being in Duplin County Province aforesaid with all my buildings and -- and orchards belongings referred? all my house hold stuff with all my movable Estate thereto an likewise all the Remaining not before given in this Will and all debts and demands whatsoever or his mother's marriage or death all that she leases or any kind Estate and release that my grand son William PRESCOT have ten pounds out of my Estate (Joseph SUTTON, crossed out) and hereby move and appoint my Loving Son James WILLIAMS with my friend Joseph SUTTON free and sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking disannulling and making Void all former Wills and Benefits by me made and declare they only to be my Last Will and Testament in Witness where of I have Set my hand and Seal - Year and Day above Written.
