PROCTOR-VICKERS CEMETERY, Durham County, North Carolin It is located on the corner of James St. and Southwood Dr. in Durham, NC. There is no sign and from the street it just looks like a vacant wooded lot. We have kept the stones laying down to hopefully discourage vandals due to the fact that it isn't in a very good neighborhood.20Family history tells that at one time there were 65+ graves in the cemetery. The woman who owned the land wanted to get rid of any evidence of a cemetery so that she could sell the property, so one day she had some boys dig a big hole and start throwing the head stones in the hole. Someone saw what was happening and called my cousin Theodore's father who went there and managed to salvage 7 of the stones. Here is a list of the people he had a list of that are buried in the cemetery: Kin Proctor Nancy Proctor Chisenhall Husband, Davis Chisenhall Son, James Chisenhall and wife, Kinsey Daughter, Mary Chisenhall Gainey Daughter, Martha Chisenhall Gainey Daughter, Sarah Chisenhall Markham and husband, Levi Markham Daughter, Nancy Emily Chisenhall Vickers, 1st wife of William Gaston Vickers (These are the children of Nancy and William): Son, Richard Dennis Vickers 4 years Son, Thomas Edward Vickers Daughter, Mary Alice Vickers Daughter, Rosa G.
