Know all men by these presents that we C.P. Couch and wife Mary A Couch T.J. 
Leigh & wife Louisa E. Leigh S.J. Garrett & wife Temesia C. Garrett Steven 
Cates & wife Cinthia E Cates Mary H Couch Nancy J. Couch and Susan G Couch of 
the County and State aforesaid for divers good causes and considerations
thereunto moving especially for sixteen hundred and eighty Dollars [?] to our 
full satisfaction have remised released and forever quit claimed and by these 
presents do for ourselves and heirs executors and administrators Justly and 
absolutely remise release and forever quit claim unto the said Norwood E. 
Couch and to his heirs and assigns forever all such right and title as we the 
said C.P. Couch & wife T J Leigh & wife S J Garrett & wife Stephen Cates & wife
Mary H Couch Nancy J. Couch and Susan G. Couch have or ought to have in the
estate of the late Mary Couch both personal and real the within lands is known 
as the Elijah Couch lands on the waters of Eno River containing two hundred 
and sixty eight and one half acres more or less To have and to hold the above 
released premises unto the said Norwood E Couch his heirs and assigns to his 
and their only proper use and behoof forever. So that neither we the said C.P. 
Couch & wife T.J. Leigh & wife S.J. Garrett & wife Steven Cates & wife
Mary H. Couch Nancy J. Couch and Susan Couch or any other person in any name 
and behalf shall or will hereafter claim or demand any right or title to the 
premises or any part thereof. But they and every of them shall by these 
presents be excluded and forever barred. In testimony whereof we
have hereunto set our hands and seals the 2nd day of March 1886.

Couch T J Leigh & wife Louisa E Leigh S.J. Garrett & wife Temesia C. Garrett 
Stephen Cates & wife Cinthia E. Cates Mary H Couch Nancy J. Couch and Susan G
Couch personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution
of the foregoing Quit claim Deed of conveyance the said [?] [?] and each of 
them being by me privately examined separate and apart from their said 
husbands touching their voluntary execution of the same each and every of them 
state that they signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or 
compulsion of their said husbands or any other person and that they do still
voluntarily assent thereto. Witness my hand and private seal this the 6 day of 
March 1886.

The foregoing certificate of W.T. Redmon a Justice of the Peace of Durham 
County is adjudged correct. Therefore let this instrument with this
certificate be registered. This March 5 1886
