This Indenture made this the 4th day of December 1883 between W.B. Mangum &
Charlotte E. Mangum of the first part of Martin County and Simeon Bowling
of Durham County of the second part Witnesseth that the parties of the first
part that for and in consideration of the sum of Ninety five Dollars to said
parties of the first part in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged the said parties of the first part hath given granted bargained 
sold and conveyed and doth hereby give grant bargain sell and convey unto the 
said Simeon Bowling and his heirs and assigns all their right title and 
interest in and the following tract of land in Durham County adjoining lands of
Simeon Bowling Green Bobbitt & others Bounded as follows to wit beginning
in the Road running west Bowlings line 39.25 chains thence South Bobbitts 
28.85 chains thence east North 88ø 40.15 chains to pointers thence North 2 
degrees West to beginning to have and to hold unto him the said Simeon Bowling 
and his heirs all the right title and interest of said parties of the first 
part in and to said land in fee simple forever and the said parties of first 
part the above described and granted premises against claim or claims of all 
and every persons or persons whatsoever to the said Simeon Bowling of the 
second part and his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever 
defend by these presents. In testimony whereof the said parties of the first 
have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first 
above written.

Personally appeared before me [B} W. Holiday a Justice of the Peace for the 
County and State aforesaid W.B. Mangum and Charlotte E. Mangum his wife and 
acknowledged the due execution by them of the foregoing deed and thereupon the 
said Charlotte E. Mangum being by me privately examined separate and apart 
from her said husband touching her free consent in the execution of the said 
deed of conveyance she on such her examination declared that she had executed 
the same freely of her own will and accord and without any force fear or undue 
influence of her said husband or any other person and did still voluntarily

I W.T. Crawford Superior Court Clerk of Martin County do hereby certify that 
H.W. Holiday is a regular acting Justice of the Peace of Martin County duly 
commissioned and was at the date of his signature and that all of his official 
acts are entitled to full faith and credit and I further certify that his 
signature to the fore going acknowledgement and privy examination is genuine. 
Witness my hand and official seal at office in Williamston the 22nd day of 
December 1883.
