This Deed made this twenty ninth day of September 1879 by Garland E Webb of 
Orange County and State of North Carolina to William Bowling of Orange County 
and State of N.C. Witnesseth that said Garland E Webb in consideration of Two 
hundred Dollars to him paid by William Bowling the receipt of which is hereby 
acknowledged has bargained and sold and by these presents does bargain sell 
and convey to said William Bowling and his heirs a tract of land in Orange 
County State of N.C. adjoining the lands of A.W. Umstead & others being a part 
of the tract originally granted to Arthur Mangum on the waters of Flat River 
and others bounds as follows viz. Beginning at a red oak Waggoners corner
in the fork of the path thence along the westward path south 38 1/2 degrees 
West + 12 poles to a red oak thence South 48 degrees West 10 poles to a
hickory on said path thence South 66 1/2 degrees west 8 poles to a hickory 
thence South 57 degrees West 14 poles to a red oak thence South 78 degrees West
22 poles to a hickory on said Waggoners corner thence North with his line 74 
poles to a hickory thence East 94 1/4 poles to a red oak at the N.E. corner of 
a field a corner of John Moize thence with his line South 13 degrees
West 14.9 poles to the beginning containing 73 3/4 acres more or less. To have 
and to hold the aforesaid tract of land and all privileges and appurtenances 
thereto belonging to the said William Bowling his heirs and assigns to his 
only use and behoof. And the said G.E. Webb covenants that he is seized of 
said premises in fee and have right to convey the same in fee simple that the 
same are free from all incumbrances and that they will warrant and defend the 
said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In 
testimony whereof the said Garland E. Webb has hereunto set his hand and seal 
the day and year above written.

The execution of the foregoing Deed was this day proven before me by the oath
and examination of P.M. Briggs the subscribing witness. Therefore let this Deed
with this certificate be registered. This Decr 31st 1885.

registered in the office of the Register of Deeds for Durham County this 8 day
