March 30, 1903 Raleigh, N.C., March 27. -- J. C. Bowling and W. A. Cooper, farmers, were killed by the east bound Southern railway train 8 miles west of Durham, at Scarlet Crossing today. The men were in a wagon, which was struck and carried some distance. It is supposed that because of a deep cut the men did not hear the train.
