Barbee, who lives in this county a few miles from Nelson, is passing through a trying ordeal. Trouble and sorrow have fallen thick and fast upon the younger members if the family and they are sorely afflicted. About two weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. Barbee were stricken down with typhoid fever and yesterday their sufferings ended. Mrs. Barbee died at 4 o'clock in the afternoon and her husband breathed his last at 10:30 last night. They leave six helpless children, the oldest of which is an invalid son age 18 years , who is now down with the fever. It was heartrending sight to see the five children gathered around their dead parents weeping and begging them to come back, and everyone who witnessed the scene wept in sympathy with the little orphans. It is indeed a dark picture to the little ones, for they are left all alone. Additional Comments: This was Thomas Y. Barbee's second marriage. On 30 Jan 1892 Thomas Y. Barbee [38] married Emma Green [27]in Durham County. These children were twice orphaned by their mothers.
