The Semi-Weekly Messenger (Wilmington NC) 15 April 1898
Winston Sentinel: The Oxford and Clarksville freight train, due at Durham at
6:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, ran over a prosperous farmer of that county (J
W Hall) and his son (Marcellas Hall) about three miles from the city, killing
the latter and seriously injuring the former, who was sent to the hospital. The
deceased was 26 years of age and the father is 62 years old.
