Raleigh News and Observer Feb. 19, 1885
William Columbus Hart

The Raleigh News and Observer 2-19-1885 carried the following death notice:
William Columbus Hart: Died Staurday evening, in Youngsville, W. C. Hart, Esq. 
after a brief illness, of pneumonia, aged 42. Mr. Hart possessed the entire 
confidence of all who knew him. Whether as citizen, neighbor, deacon of his 
church, or head of a large and interesting family, he was loved and honored. In 
his death the community in which he lived suffers a loss beyond estimate.


Additional Comments:
His Children/Grandchildren believed he was born in 1843 in Wilson, Wake Co. NC, 
but his headstone shows 1840, making him 44/45 when he died. He was the son of 
Elisha B. Hart and Sally Harris. He was married to Annie Bennett Hill on Sept 
19, 1866 in Franklin, Co. NC bondsman William H Harris, Witness: T.C. Horton 
Clerk of County Court. They had 10 children, the oldest being 17 and the 
youngest being under age 1, when their father died. This typed information (and 
more) was passed down to me by Mabel O'Briant Stallings and her sister Ida Faye 
O'Briant Bottoms. They composed the information for a Hart Family Reunion in 
the fall of 1977.
