Deaths and Funerals
Alexander A. Maynor

Funeral services for Alexander A. Maynor, 72, resident of 810 Spring Street
will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Howerton-Bryan Funeral Home.
The Rev. Charles C. Smith, and the Rev. Truett Cox, pastor of the Yates
Baptist Church, will conduct the service.  Interment will be in Maplewood
Cemetery, annex B.

Pallbearers will be L.G. Hill Jr., Alexander Hill, Jerry Hill, L.G. Hill Sr.,
M.J. Maynor and Huey McKenzie.

Mr. Maynor died at Watts Hospital Tuesday morning at 4:15 o'clock of injuries
sustained when he fell through an elevator shaft from the second floor to the
basement of the Venable Tobacco at around 3:30 o'clock.  He was on his regular
rounds as a night watchman when the accident occurred.

The deceased was born and reared in Moore County near Carthage, the son of
William Judson Maynor and Mary Phillips Maynor.  He received his education in
the Moore County schools.

He moved to this city 40 years ago from High Point.  For a number of years he
was a member of the First Baptist Church.

In 1900 he was married to Miss Margaret Amelia Rigsbee of Chatham County, who
survives as do two daughters, Mrs. Floyd M. Lasater and Mrs. L.D. Hill; one
son, M.J. Maynor, all of Durham; two sisters, Mrs. Melissa McKenzie of
Rockingham and Mrs. Alice Hogshire of Rocky Mount.

(NOTE:  Alexander was born 9-21-1874 in Moore County.  He married Margaret
Amelia Rigsbee of Chatham County on 11-17-1901 in Durham.   Alexander's
father, William Judson Maynor, served in the civil war ~ Co. E, 44th Infantry
"Chatham County Turtle Paws." His grandparents were William and Chloe Phillips
Maynor of Chatham County.)
