TRICE DIES; RITES WEDNESDAY Patterson Township Resident Succumbs at Home after Stroke of Paralysis ---------- Funeral Services for Chesley Addison Trice, Sr. 87, well known retired farmer of Patterson township will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Howerton-Bryan funeral home. Rev. Lawyer J. Rainey, pastor of Ephesus Baptist church, will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Rhodes family graveyard, off the Hope Valley road. Pallbearers will be Garland Elliott, Will Couch, Paul Barbee, Robert O'Brient, Felix Elliott, Ralph Markham. Honorary Pallbearers will be E. T. Hunter, W. C. Couch, C. M. Crutchfield, John Canady, B.C. Woodall, W. L. Harward, G. W. Elliott, R. A. Daniel, J. C. Markham, and E. D. Pickett. Floral bearers will be Mrs. F. K. Elliott, Mrs. G. O. Elliott, Mrs. Norman Elliott, Miss Pauline Elliott, Miss Doris Elliott, Miss Martha Mae Daniel, Miss Nettie Rachel Neal, Miss Margaret Barbee. Mr. Trice was born and reared in Patterson township community and lived all his life in that neighborhood, where he successfully engaged in farming. He was a member of Ephesus Baptist church. He died at his home on Cornwallis road yesterday at 3:30 o'clock of paralysis. He had been in declining health for the past six months. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. E. D. Cole, Mrs. D. T. Evans, both from Durham county, and Mrs. R. J. Neal of Farmville; one son, C. A. Trice, Jr. of Durham county; his wife Mrs. Lizzie Mae Trice, one stepdaughter, Mrs. E. P. Barbee, of Durham county; and two stepsons, Will Couch of Durham county and A. D. Couch of Akron, Ohio. ----------------------------------------------------- Durham Morning Herald Tuesday July 13 1937 CHESLEY ADDISON TRICE, SR. Chesley Addison Trice, Sr. 87 well known retired farmer of Patterson township died Monday afternoon at 3:50 o'clock at his home six miles southwest of Durham on the Cornwallis road. Paralysis was the cause of death. He had been in declining health for the past six months and was stricken two weeks ago. Mr. Trice was born and reared in the portion of Orange county which is now Durham county and had lived in the Patterson township section all his life. For a long number of years he was a member of Ephesus Baptist church. Surviving are three daughters, Mr. E. D. Cole, Mrs. D. T. Evans, both of Durham and Mrs. R. J. Neal of Farmville, one son, C. A. Trice Jr., of Durham county; his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Mae Trice; one stepdaughter, Mrs. E. P. Barbee of Durham county, and two stepsons, Will Couch of Durham county and A. D. Couch of Akron, Ohio. The body has been removed to Howerton Bryan funeral home where it will remain pending the completion of funeral arrangements. Funeral services will be held sometime Wednesday afternoon and burial will be in the Rhodes family graveyard of the Hope Valley road six miles south of Durham.
