UMSTEAD OF BAHAMA IS DEAD Well Known Citizen of County Dies Suddenly: Neighbor Finds Him Dead In Bed Hamp Umstead, 69, resident of Bahama, died yesterday morning Immediate cause of death was thought to be gastritis Resided in Durham County all his life and the last 20 years in Bahama He had previously lived on his farm in Mangum Township His wife died about 5 years ago and was Mrs. Bettie Travis Umstead He had lived alone since her death A relative found him dead in bed. He had not been well for several days. His death came as a surprise. He was the youngest child of Squire Dee and Martha Preston Umstead. He had 12 siblings Survivors: 1 brother: H.L. Umstead of Willardsville 1 daughter: Mrs. Laudeman of Pittsburgh, Pa 1 son: E.T. Umstead of Bennett, Ga A Methodist and member of Mt. Bethel church in Bahama at the time of his death Funeral services and burial will be Friday at 3 pm at Mt. Bethel church Pallbearers: J.B. Mason, D.B. Roberts, L.J. Roberts, A.R. Copley, A.W.
