The couple had kept to themselves and a few intimate friends the fact that there was to be a marriage, and when Rev. W. C. Barrett, pastor of the church, said that there would be a marriage in a few minutes there was much surprise. Mr. C.L. Billings and Miss Coy Pickett were the contracting parties. Both popular and well known, the bride being the daughter of Mr. L. G. Pickett, who lives on West Chapel Hill street, and is a prominent citizen. The groom holds a position with a grocery firm on Main street. The bridal party consisted of Mr. J. M Cheek, best man, and Miss Ira Pickett, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, Messers. J. T. Beaver, C. T. Council, L. P. Wilson and S. U. Pickard, ushers. The bride wore a gown of crepe de chine over taffeta, trimmed in point lace. She carried a shower bouquet of bride's roses.
