Born, Feb. 24, 1870, at Rocky Mount, NC
Educated in Horner's School at Oxford, NC, and University of North Carolina.
Entered railway service Dec. 20, 1888, since which he has been consecutively 
to Dec. 1890, clerk in auditor's office Atlantic Coast Line Rd at 
Wilmington, NC;
Dec. 1890 to 1897, clerk to trainmaster Pulaski division Norfolk & Western 
Ry at Radford, Va.;
1897 to date, successively stenographer for superintendent, chief clerk, 
agent, yardmaster, assistant trainmaster, trainmaster and superintendent 
Virginia & South Western Ry at Bristol, Va., claim agent and general claim 
agent Norfolk & Western Ry.
