Bolin was accidentally killed by his son in law, Joe Phillips, during 1904 at the tobacco barns on the property. I feel sure, his wife, Martha Edwards Varnell is buried on this property, but haven't found anyone who definitely can state this. Martha Varnell Webb b.1877 d. Daughter of John Thomas and Martha Etheridge Webb. John Hardy Varnell b. 1908 d. abt 1911 *No tombstone. Child death. Son of Colin and Cindy Webb Varnell. Named after his grandfather John Thomas Webb & his uncle Hardy Webb. Note: This graveyard was plowed over by another family member (many years ago). There are only two graves showing that have markers and they are overturned and can't be read. The only reason they remain (possibly) is the graves are covered with cement. Information on who is buried here was gathered by Charlotte Varnell Beck - as she spoke with remaining family members who know their loved ones were buried there. It is possible there are others buried at this location, but these are the ones I have identified at this point. Much of my information was gleaned by talking with Annie Mae Varnell Tuck, daughter of Colin and Estelle Strickland Edwards Varnell. She currently resides in Bailey NC.
