Edgecombe County, NC - Deeds - Amason, Elbert to Lewis Hokett-1832 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Lorene Rambo 1832 To Lewis Hokett From Elbert Amason 331 acres for $331 Deeds and Mortgages of Real Estate, Edgecombe County, Book 20, Page 377: (LDS Microfilm #0018895) This indenture made thd 30th Oct. eighteen hundred and thirty two between Elbert Amaxon of the State of North Carolina and County of Edgecombe of the one part and Lewis Hokett of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth the said Elbert Maxon of and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and thirty one dollars to me in hand paid at or before the sealing or delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge that I have granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth bargain sell and convey unto the said Lewis Hokett and his heirs a certain tract or parcil of land situated in the County aforesaid beginning at a sweet gum at Thomas A Maxon's corner running south 153 poles to a pine and small oak at Elisha Felton corner thence east 94 poles to a Black Jack Nathan Easons corner thence south 89 poles to a pine at Easons corner thence west 240 along Matthew Wells line to a pine at Thomas Speights corner thence North and East118 poles to a pine at Speights corner thence west 73 poles to a lightwood stake at Thomas Amason's line thence along said line North 124 poles nearly to a pine stump supposed to T. Amason's thence along Amaxon's line east 73 poles to a pine continuing the same on 34 poles to another pine on said line continuing on said line 111 poles to the beginning containing 331 acres of land to be the same more or less I the said Elbert Amaxon do warrant and forever defend the rite title and claim unto the said Lewis Hokett and his heirs forever in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and date above written.
