This indenture made this 26th day of November in the year eighteen hundred 
and seventy eight between J. H. Boseman & wife of the first part and county 
of Edgecombe and State of North Carolina and C. G. Peal of the County and 
State above written of the second part witnesseth that the said party of the 
first part for and in consideration of the sum of sixty five dollars the 
receipt of which is hereby acknowledged has given granted bargained sold & 
conveyed and does hereby give grant bargain sell & convey to the said party 
of the second part his heirs and assigns a certain piece of land laying and 
being in the County of Edgecombe, State of North Carolina bounded as follows 
commencing at a stake twenty four feet from W. T. Godwin's house thence along 
the road a northern course fifty feet to C. G. Peals line thence along Peal 
line parallel with the road one hundred yards to the Joseph Lloyd line thence 
along the Lloyd line fifty feet thence a western course one hundred yards to 
the beginning to have and to hold the same with the privileges and 
appurtenances thereunto belonging to C. G. Peal, the said party of the second 
part his heirs and assigns forever and the said party of the first part for 
the consideration aforesaid does hereby covenant and agree to warrant and 
defend the aforesaid to the said part of the second part his executors 
administrators and assigns against the claims and __?__ of all persons 
whatsoever and does further covenant that the said J. W. Boseman is seized of 
the aforesaid land in fee simple and has power to made and cause such and 
estate by this indenture and has done the same by these presents in witness 
whereof the said party of the first part has hereunto set their hands and 
seals on the day and year above written...signed sealed and delivered in the

I, W. A. Duggan clerk of the Superior Court do hereby certify that J. W. 
Boseman and Elizabeth Boseman his wife, appeared before me this day and 
acknowledged the due execution of the annexed deed of sale: and the said 
Elizabeth Boseman being by me patiently examined, separate and apart from her 
said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same freely and 
voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other 
person, and that she doth will voluntarily assent thereto, let the same, with 
this certificate, be registered. Witness, my hand and official seal, this 
11th day of December A.D. 1878.
