This Indenture made this 23rd day of September in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen, between Francis DuVal of the County of Edgecombe and State of North Carolina of the one part and George McWilliams of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said Francis DuVal for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand two hundred and fifty pounds currency of the state aforesaid equal to twenty- five hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said George McWilliams before the sealing and delivering of these presents, __?__ whereof he the said DuVal doth hereby acknowledge himself fully satisfied hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said George McWilliams, his heirs and assigns forever, two lots of half acre each of land lying and being in the Town of Tarborough, known and distinguished by lots marked (no. 13&24) thirteen and twenty-four, both said lots adjoining in the plan of the said town; To have and to hold the said two lots of land with the appurtenances (except a place of eighteen feet square on the lot no. 24) called the graveyard which he the said Francis DuVal doth secure to himself his heirs and unto him the said George McWilliams his heirs forever, and the said Francis DuVal doth by these presents bind himself, his heirs and assigns and warrant and defend the said two lots (of half acre each) of land unto him the said Geo. McWilliams his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claim or claims of any other person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof he the said Francis DuVal hath hereunto set his hand and affixes his seal the day and date first above written.
