Db 18, page 232, deed date 18 Feb 1825, recorded 17 Mar 1825, Lewis Etheridge, to James Etheridge, county aforesaid for $328, a tract 82 ½ acres on the south side of Griffins Swamp beginning at a white oak in Griffins Swamp then south a nearly along a line of marked trees to a white oak a corner then east or nearly along a line of marked trees to a black gum in the Bear Branch then down said Branch to Griffins Swamp then up said swamp the various courses thereof to the first station, signed Lewis Etheridge (X), wit Wm. E. Bellamy, Henry Jinkins. Abstracted 10-7-06 NCA film C.037.400015, CTC. Edge. Co. Db 18, page 241, deed date 2 Aug 1824, recorded Feb Ct 1825, Spencer L. Hart, Sheriff of Edge. Co to Benjamin Wilkinson, same county; whereas by virtue of a writ dated 1 Mar 1824 commanding to take from the property of Frederick Philips these sum of $1013 and costs for debt to the use of Jesse C. Knight, guardian recovered against said Philips, sheriff offered for sale on the fourth Monday of May 1824 three tracts of land, to wit, four fifths of 227 acres adjoining the lands of Gray Jordan, James Lancaster and Redmund Bunn and four fifths of 82 acres on both sides of the public road that passes Willis McDade adjoining the lands of Eaton Gay, F.D. Evans and others also 100 acres on Buck Run where Jonathan Price formerly lived, this last tract has the incumbrance of a widows dower, all of said land was sold as the property of Frederick Philips and Benjamin Wilkinson bid on the first named tract the sum of $67for the second tract $11 and for the third tract $55 which was the greatest and last bid, signed S.L.
