ample and sufficient maintenance so as to place her beyond the reach of 
any misfortune if something happens to the party of the first part; for 
$10 paid to Peter R. Hines by Richard Hines, for Negro slaves; 
(Negrocia), Ben, Ted, Mingo, Mike, Abel, Nelson, Tom, Jenny and one 
child name not known, Harriett, Viney and her child, Gleason all of 
which are now in Burke Co., NC, Negro woman Pat and her children, 
Willie, Margaret & Fenetta, Treasy and her two children Bet & (Bell) 
all of which are not in Edgecombe Co. and Negro girl Maria who is in 
Nash Co., and all their increase, said Richard will take profits and 
proceeds from slaves and use them for benefit of said Sarah and Peter 
H. Hines, to be free from the control or from any claims against said 
Peter H. Hines, and if she should die leaving issue of her body begot 
by said Peter R. Hines living at her death, then the slaves and their 
issue will be conveyed to the issue of Sarah begotten by said Peter R. 
Hines, but if she dies without issue and is survived by said Peter R. 
Hines, the slaves and their issue will be conveyed to him, but if Sarah 
should die before said Peter and he should then die without issue, 
slaves shall be conveyed to whomever said Peter should designate or to

the Court of Equity for said County praying that a tract of land 
therein specified might be sold and the proceeds of the sale divided 
among those entitled and whereas such proceedings were had thereon that 
it was decreed by the court of Equity aforesaid that the Clerk & Master 
of said Court should sell the said land at the Court House in 
Tarborough on a credit of nine & eighteen months to the highest bidder 
after giving forty days notice of said sale be advertising it in three 
public places in the County of Edgecombe and take bond with sufficient 
security for the purchased money & convey the premises to the purchaser 
and report his proceedings to the next court and whereas the Clerk & 
Master of said court in obedience to said decree having made due 
advertisement offer'd the same for sale to the highest bidder on credit 
above mentioned: whereas Jacob Robbins appeared and bid for said tract 
of land containing about three hundred and forty eight acres be the 
same more or less, the sum of two hundred & thirty dollars ($230) which 
being the last & highest bid the said Jacob Robbins became the 
purchaser thereof, now this indenture witnesseth that the said Isaac 
Norfleet Clerk & Master aforesaid acting in obedience to the final

of William Taylor being on the head waters of Town Creek on a stream 
called (Brands) Branch in the county of Edgecombe County containing two 
hundred and thirteen acres more or less according to (            )

and water courses rights and liberties thereunto belonging with the 
rents and profits thereof unto him the said Joiner his heirs assigns

the said guardian of his assigns the said several sums amounting to 
four hundred dollars with interest and all other costs so that the said

thenceforth as will the present indenture and the estate hereby granted
