This indenture made in year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven on 22 December between John Taylor of the County of Edgecombe and State of North Carolina of the first part John Morgan of the same county and state of the second part and Benja Sharp of the same county and state of the third part witness that I the said John Taylor for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by the said John Morgan of the second part have bargined and sold and confirmed by the presents doth bargain and sel and confirm unto the said John Morgan the following property that is say three tracts of land situate in the county and on the north side of Town Creek one tract ajoyning Writ Wiggin and Benja Sharp it being the land formerly belonging to Thomas Taylor and his wife, Elizabeth it being where the said John Taylor now lives supposed to be one hundred acres more of less and one other tract ajoyning the land of John Garrett and Rite Wiggin supposed to be one hundred and twelve acres more or less it being the land that said John Taylor and wife bout of John Garrett ajoyning his other tract and all thee right and title and interest that I have in my wife dower the dower that she (druwhed owt) the tract of her husman Edman Edward land ajoyning William J. Andrews and Alen (Nettle) and others supposed to be three hundred acres more or less and also two negro boy of my own named Dick age about (seven) year old and Berry age bout eight year old and all my rite and interest to four Negroes that cam by wife one man name Spear and all my rit to the Negro woman Selphia and her two children Sabra and George Sabra about four old and George about two 2 head of horses and mule and the rite of 2 horses that cam by my wife and all household and kitchen furniture and all my write to twelve head of cattle and all my rite to the hogs and all my rite to the gig 2 cart and whils and I the said John Taylor do for ever warrent and defend the rite and title unto said John Morgan or his hers and sign and the said Taylor do bind myself and heres and sign to forever to warrent and defend the bove named proper to the said John Morgan and his heirs forever upon trust nevertheless that the John Morgan or his hers and sign shall sell the bove named property and to pay and (satsifaling) claims that is to say one not of hand given to Elisha Little and Benja Sharpe security for one hundred and seventy five dollar date 19 November 1836 and baring interest the date and one note to John Garrett for three hundred and eighty dollar my self and wife and Benja Sharp security and (Culling) Causway baring interest from January 1838 it being (anat gin) for the last payment of the land boat of John Garrett and one not given Benja Sharp for ten dollar 14 October 1837 for (lent money on account) in favor of the said Benjam Sharp for seventy dollar dew at this time and baring interest from this date and the said John Morgan of the second part do bind myself and my heirs to sell the bove named property at any time after receiving notice from either party the said Taylor or Benja Sharp after giving twenty day (public) notice at 3 or more (public) places in the said county and after paying the bove named (Debpt) and the cost for recording and billing if any remain in hands I bind myself to pay it over to John Taylor or his heirs on order.
