as his securities" to four noes made payable to Robert A. Pate for the 
sum of $250 each and to secure said notes and sales in trust to said 
Bassett Sikes a tract adjoining the lands of William Felton, Elisha

Ct. 1845, Robert H. Austin, Edge. Co. to Isaac Robbins, Edge. Co. for 
$125.85; whereas Henry Austin, late of Edgecombe Co. departed this life 
sometime in the spring of 1845, leaving a will which was proved at Feb. 
Ct. 1845 in which he nominated "my only son" Robt. H. Austin as 
executor with full power to sell any of my land at judgement, a tract 
of land on the south side of Tyan Cokey Swamp beginning at a black gum 
in a line of marked trees then west by a line of marked trees to a 
large pine in Duncan Lamons line then east along said Lamon's line to 
his corner pine then south along Renison Tisdale's line to a black gum

Ct. 1845, James Marley, John Marley and Abram Marley of Kentucky, 
children and heirs of Nathan Marley, deceased, who died in Edge. Co., 
appoint our friend, John Norfleet, Edge. Co. our attorney to sell our 
portion of property in the estate of Nathan Marley, dec'd who left 12 
children, one of whom, Henry Marley died in the year 1839 in Livingston 
Co., Kentucky without wife or children, being single and unmarried, 
making our interest one twelfth each in our father's estate and one 
eleventh each in Henry's part, our parts being in the hands of Jesse 
Knight of Edge. Co., particularly one tract of land containing 61 acres

March Term 1844 and tested the second Monday of Sept. 1843, to me 
directed, levied on a Negro man the property of Micajah E. Armstrong 
named Jack and after duly advertising the said Negro, exposed him to 
public sale to highest bidder at courthouse on 27 Nov. 1843, when B.F. 
Moore appeared and bid the sum of one dollar which being the last and 
highest bid, the said Negro man Jack was struck off to the said B.F.

the Cabbin Branch where it makes into the main run of said Cokey Swamp 
and runs up said Cokey Swamp with its various courses to Weeks Parker’s 
lower corner then out from said swamp along said Parker’s line in a 
southern direction to a certain little branch near the new house lately 
built by Amos J. Battle then up said little branch at it meanders to 
the public road then along with said road easterly to Duncan Hargrove’s 
corner which is a small black jack at or near the said road in a bottom 
then along with said Hargrove’s line in a southern direction to his 
other corner a pine in a small branch near the corner of his fence then 
down the little swamp a few poles to George W. Killebrew’s corner of 
the land he had from Joshua Bullock then out with said Killebrew’s line 
to said Joshua Bullock’s present corner then along with said Bullock’s 
line to another of his corners and then on with Bullock’s other line to 
the other public road then easterly with said road in its various

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas C. Hopkins of Edgecombe 
County and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and disposing 
memory but fible in body and unable to attend to my business I 
therefore nominate and appoint Henry I. Toole of the County and state 
as above written my sole and lawfull trustee to take immediate 
possession of my whole estate both real personal and mixed to collect 
and disburse all my dues and debts as he the said Toole may think to my 
best interest. Now in consideration of the above mentioned services I 
give at my death to the said Toole all my personal property after 
paying Richard Bunting the sum of eight hundred dollars for his 
attention to me. I give at my death all my real estate to Elmira 
Stansil to her heirs and assigns forever. I further give together with 
my personal property my stock crop, household and kitchen furniture to 
Henry I. Toole to him his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof 
I have here unto set my hand and seal this 20 September 1846. Thos. C.
