Nash Co.; judgements were obtained before Jas. H. Chapman, Esq., a 
Justice of the Peace, in favor of Battle, Bunn & Co. against John N. 
Taylor, defendant, and a judgement was obtained from court on ? Mar 
1883, and another judgement obtained in Spring Ct. 1883 against same 
defendant in favor of W.W. Parker, in which defendants real estate, his 
home tract and a separate 8 acre tract was levied upon; court ordered 
commissioners to appraise home tract and allotted a portion of the said 
home tract, 65 acres embracing the dwelling house as his homestead 
exemption, sheriff was ordered to sell excess real estate above 
homestead exemption; on 2 Jun 1844 at public auction sheriff sold 
excess to Jacob Battle, the last and highest bidder, for $425, the 
following tracts of land(1) a tract containing 8 acres, near but 
separate from the said John N. Taylor home tract, bounded by the lands 
of Sid Davis on the north, John King on the south, by Jolly B. 
Armstrong on the east & west, tract (2) that portion of the home tract 
remaining after allotment of 65 acres homestead, excess bounded as 
follows: beginning at the mouth of a ditch on the county road then with

and wife Jerusha Taylor, residence not given, to George Howard for $575 
all our interest in the estate, real, personal and mixed of James B. 
(Sharpe) dec'd late of Edgecombe County being the home place consisting 
of between 500 and 600 acres also the place (purchased) by John 
Lawrence (abt. 65 acres) also the tract drawn in the division of his 
father's estate in Wilson abt. 60 acres.  Jerusha appeared before a 
Justice of the Peace in Wilson County and acknowledged her free 
consent.  This was noted as being the interest of Jerusha M.A. Taylor 
as one of the next of kin, being 1/7th share.
