Edgecombe County, NC - Deed & Land Records File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Helen Sharpe DEED BETWEEN RANDOLPH EDWARDS & SIMON EDWARDS EDGECOMBE COUNTY DEED BOOK 14, page 91 Dated 14 August 1811 This indenture made this the Eighteenth day of August in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven, between SIMON EDWARDS of the county of Edgecombe & state of North Carolina of the one part and RANDAL EDWARDS of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said SIMON EDWARDS for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said RANDAL EDWARDS the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and himself fully satisfied contented and paid have given granted bargained sold alined ? conveyed and confirmed unto the said RANDAL EDWARDS his heirs and assigns forever one acreage ? or lott of land lying and being in the county of Edgecombe and on the south side of the middle prong of JOHN BRANCH, beginning at a white oak on the said branch, THOMAS DUPREES corner then along said DUPREES line South to a pine a corner in the head of a branch called James Sprout being the corner of the lands that JOHN DOWDING deceased family possessed then along the old line West fifty three and a half poles to a corner stake being the corner of the land that was drawn for JONATHAN DOWDING in the devision of the land of his father known by the lot No. 3. Then nearly North along the line of the said Jonathan Dowding land to a small branch that runs through the lower part of the plantation where the said JOHN DOWDING deceased formerly lived then down the various courses of said small branch to the said JOHN BRANCH thence down the various courses of the said JOHNS Branch to the first station containing by estimation SEVENTY SIX acres more or less being that part of the Lot #4 which was on the south side of the said small branch that was drawn for JESSE DOWDING in the division of his father JOHN DOWDING deceased lands. To have and to hold the said land and premises with all the appurtenances thereonto belonging or may any way appertaining unto him the said RANDAL EDWARDS his heirs and assigns forever & I the said SIMON EDWARDS myself my heirs, executors, administrators will forever warrant and defend the said land & premises to the said RANDAL EDWARDS his heirs and assigns clear & free from the lawful claim property or demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever is witnessed whereof I the said SIMON EDWARDS have hereunto set my hand & seal the day and date above writted Signed, sealed & delivered in presence of us SIMON EDWARDS (seal) MICAJAH PETTEWAY POLLY POWELL Edgecombe County August Court 1811.
