Edgecombe County, NC – Elizabeth Griffis to Benjamin Grabbs, 1760 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EDGECOMBE COUNTY DEED OF GIFT To all to Whom these Shall come greeting. Know ye that I Elizabeth Griffis of Edgcombe County and province of North Carolina for and in Consideration of the Sum of five pounds Sterling Money of Great Britain to her in hand paid by her grandson Benjamin Grabbs the Son of Ric'd Grabbs the Recept of Which I doe acknowledge and for and in Consideration of the Natural love and affection I have and Bear unto my grandson Benjamin Grabbs and for divers other good Causes and Consideration to me hearunto Moving Have given granted and Sold and by these presents doe give grant Bargain and Sell alien and confirm unto the Said Benjamin Grabbs his Heirs & assigns forever one plantation and tract of land lying on Tianety Swamp whearon I Now live and all the land Belonging to the said Plantation in Edgcombe County Containing by Estimation one Hundred acres on the Hole according to the Known and Repated Bounds of the Same and all woods waters & Appurtenances Priviledges and advantages to the Same belonging or in any wise appurtaining and all the Estate Rights Title intrust claim of me the Said Elizabeth Griffis in and to ________ Plantation & in and to Every part and parcel therof & also the Reversion and Reversional Remainder and Remainderi Rents and Services of the Same & of Every part therof my grandson is to be posses'd with the land and premises after my death and you are to observe that your father and Mother is to have liberty to Work and Make use of Sum part of the s'd land during there Natural Life and Not to be interrup'd by any body If they think fit to live on it and also I give him the s'd Benjamin _______one Sow and pigs one feather Bed & furniture to Have and to Hold the Said plantation land and premises afors'd with the Appurtenances to the said Benjamin Grabbs his Heirs and assigns to this only use and property & his Benjamin Grabbs his Heirs and assigns forever and I the Said Elizabeth Griffis for me and my Heirs the land and premises afores'd with the appurtenances to the Said Benjamin Grabbs his Heirs and assigns shall and will Warrant and forever Defend by those presents In Witness Whearof I do hearunto Set my hand and affixt'd my seal this twenty six day of June one thousand Seven Hundred & Sixty Sign'd seal'd & Deliver'd in presence of us Elizabeth (her mark) Griffis John Fountaine Ack'd John Stringer Mary Stringer C.
