This Indenture made this the 1st day of June A. D. 1855 between Robt. Norfleet, 
of the Town of Tarboro and State of North Carolina of the one part and William 
M. Pippen of the Town and State aforesaid of the other part; Witnesseth that 
the said Robert Norfleet for and in consideration of the sum of thirty-three 
hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Wm. M. Pippen at and before the 
execution of these presents, (the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge 
and him the said Wm. There from acquit and discharge) hath given, granted, 
bargained and sold aliened, conveyed, and confirmed, and by these presents doth 
give, grant, bargain and sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said Wm. M. 
Pippen, his heirs and assigns all his right, title and interest in and to two 
certain pieces or parcels of land or town lots situated in the Town of Tarboro, 
and State of North Carolina.  

One of the said lots known and described in the plan of said Town as lot No. 53 
and containing about one half acre, and it being the lot on which the said 
Robert resides. 

The other being a part of the lot known and described in the plan of said town 
as Lot No. 54, and being a little more than one third of said lot No. 54 and 
contained within the following boundaries, to wit: beginning at the South East 
corner of Lot 54 and running 51½ feet towards lot No. 43 (Mrs. A. Clark's) 
thence in a straight line 150 feet or to said lot No. 53, thence along the line 
of lot No. 53, fifty-one and a half feet to the street, thence along the street, 
one hundred and fifty to the beginning, it being the piece of ground now used 
by the said Robert as a stable lot, both of which said parcels of land or lots, 
having been purchased by the said Robert from Josiah Lawrence of said Town.

To have and to hold the lands and lots, herein before conveyed unto the said 
Wm. M. Pippen, his heirs, executors and administrators doth covenant, promise 
and agree to and with the said Wm. M. his heirs and assigns, all and singular 
the premises hereby conveyed forever to warrant and defend from the lawful 
claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever.

In witness whereof the said Robert Norfleet hath hereunto subscribed his name 
and set his seal, this the day, month and year above written.
