Edgecombe County, NC - Deeds - Sarah Pritchet Dower, 1800 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WILLIAM PRITCHET & WIFE SARAH We the Subscribers being Summoned by the Sheriff of Edgecombe County to lay off & allot unto William Pritchet & his wife Sarah, late Widow of William Ellinor dec'd her Dower in two Tracts of land which Said William Ellinor died Seized & possessed of Containing One Hundred & fifty acres, lying on the No. Side of Tarr river: Report after being Sworn agreeable to Law, we proceeded to lay off to the aforesaid William & Sarah his wife Fifty Acres of Land Vist. Beginning at a Dead Pine, Then East Seventy Six poles along a line of marked Trees to a white Oak, then So. 12 Wt. 105 poles through the Orchard to a Stake Standing in the Old field, then Wt. along a line of marked Trees to a white oak, Standing between the Pacoson & road, then along the old line to the first Station; The aforesaid Dower Containing Fifty acres & contains the Dwelling House & all the Out Houses at the Said place, with as much of the Orchard as we in justice & equity think they are entitled to receive. Given under our hands & Seals this the 20th day of March in the year 1800.
