All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Watson http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00029.html#0007196 April 2, 2011, 2:47 pm Written: October 23, 1740 Recorded: November 1740 Edgecombe County Deeds 1732-1741, Pg 358 North Carolina } To all Christian people to whom these presents shall come I Wm Reeves Junr of Edgecombe County in the said province planter in the name of our Lord God everlasting send Greeting Know Ye I the said William Reeves for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifty pounds current money of the said province to me in hand paid by Paul Harralson planter of the County & province aforesd of & the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself fully satisfied and for divers other good causes & considerations and hereunto moving have bargained sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmed & by the presents do bargain sell alien enfeoff release & confirm unto the said Paul Harralson his heirs & assigns forever a plantation & tract of same lying & being in Edgecombe County on the South side of Morratock river on a Creek known by the name of Great Creek containing by estimated One hundred & fifty acres be the same more or less - Beginning at a red oak in his back line that part the said land and Captain Spann’s then along Spann’s line to a corner hickory then along a line of marked trees to the Center of three oaks then along a line of marked trees to a Sweet Gum on Great Creek then along a line of trees to the place begun at to the use & behoof of him the sd Paul Harralson his heirs & Assigns forever Together with all woods, underwoods rights priviledges & immunities unto the same belonging of any wise appertaining To have & to hold the sd. plantation & Tract of Land unto the sd Harralson his heirs & Assigns forever and I the sd William Reeves for my self my heirs Exors & Admors do further promise Covenant & agree to & with the sd. Paul Harralson his heirs & Assigns by these presents that he the said Harralson his heirs Exors & Admors shall & may peaceably & quietly have hold use Occupy possess & enjoy the said plantation & tract of land & all & singular the rights privileges immunities forever without loss trouble or molestation of or from me the said Wm Reeves my heirs Exors Admrs or of or from any other person or persons whomsoever claiming by or under me or them or any or either of them And I the said Wm Reeves do for myself my heirs &c the said Plantation & tract of land warrant that the said land is free & clear of all former & other Sales Gifts grants Mortgages Rents & arrearages of rents & incumbrances whatsoever And will the same defend against all or any person or persons whatsoever claiming any right title or Interest thereunto or any part thereof & will at all or any time or times hereafter Do any such further or other lawful act or acts thing or things for confirming & sure making the said Plantation & tract of land unto the said Harralson or his attorney Learned in the Law In Witness whereof I have thereunto set my hand & fixed my seal as also Hardy Reeves Wife of the said Wm Reeves doth acquit & make over all her rights of the above mentioned land In Witness whereof we have set our hands & seals the 23rd day of October 1740.
