Edgecombe County, NC - Deeds - William Woodard to Richard Hoket-1818 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Lorene Rambo 1818 To Richard Hoket From William Woodard Adjacent to 1811 property, N side of Road Greenville to Stantonsburg $172 Deeds and Mortgages of Real Estate, Edgecombe County, Book 16, Page 235: (LDS Microfilm #0018892) This transcription made from a poor photocopy: This indenture made this the 16 day of October one Thousand Eight hundred and Eighteen Between William Woodard of the State of No. Carolina and County of Edgecombe of the one part and Richard Hoket of the County and State afforesaid of the other part witness that the said William Woodard for an in consideration of the sum of One hundred and Seventy two dollars to me in hand paid at or before the sealing at Delivery of these presents the Recet wherof I hereby acknowledge I have granted Bargind Sold and Conveyd and by these presents doth Bargin Sell and Convey unto the said Richard Hoket and his heirs a certain tract or parcel of Land Situate in the county afforsaid liing on the North side of the Road leading from Greenville to Stantonsburg and Bowndered as follows to wit Begining at a post oak then along Richard Hokets line to a corner pine thence along Thomas Amasons line to a corner pine on the said road thence along the said road to a corner hickory thence along Willie Ellis line to the first Station Containing forty three acres be the same more or less together with all and Singular the appurtanences thereunto Belonging to have and to hold the said Bargained Land and premicies together with all privileges proffets and advantages thereunto Belonging or in any wise thereunto Belonging unto the said Richard Hoket and his heirs for Ever and I the said William Woodard for my self my heirs Executors or administrators do covenent promise and agree to and with the said Richard Hoket his heirs and assigns at the time of the sealing and Delivery of these presents I am lawfully seized and possest of the afforsaid premiscies in my own rite in fee Simple and have in my self good rite full power and lawful authority to sell and convey the same in manner afforsaid and further manner that the said Richard Hocket and his heirs shall and may from time to time and at all times forever here after have hold and possess and enjoy the same clear and free from all encumbrances and the said William Woodard for myself my heirs and the said land and appertainances against all and Every person or Persons engage to warrant and for Ever defend unto the said Richard Hoket and his heirs for ever in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above ritten.
