Edgecombe County, NC - Mary Wiggins to Fred & Catherine Wiggins, 1937 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Grandmother to Fred & Catherine, 1937] Monday Morning. Before Breakfast My dear Fred Jr & Catherine, Well I have at last gotten some paper, so here goes. The first thing I want to say, Daddy and Gladys rode up to the farm yesterday morning with bro. said the crop had come out just lots. He said he had five pretty barns in, and they were curing up pretty. I am just so happy for bro as one time he was so blue over his crop. Let me tell you something. I am the mother of eleven little pigs. The mother died, and I am feeding them on the bottle, they are so cute. They are doing fine so far. I will be so happy if I have good luck with them. Daddy had another milk hog found eleven yesterday so he told Johnnie to shift two of my pigs to her but they like one from their mother better so he had to bring them back. Ha. Ha. wasn’t that bad. Gladys came home last Wednesday. Mary Earle stayed and was to come home today but Elizabeth Fountain is down there so they have decided to stay until Wednesday. I miss them so very badly when they are gone its so lonely. It was certainly nice of Julian and Jack to look after my children. Tell them I do appreciate it to because they were doing something for me also. I appreciate anyboddy doing any thing for my children. Am so glad you are so pleased with your new home. And hope you will make some money. My prayers are with you. Sister and Bro Marshel spent last Sunday with us. You had a package from Harry & Margaret, Zeb & Bernice from Ashville come in last week. You better write them we have received it as it will be so long before you will be home. Well I will have to stop and go feed my babies as they are calling me and I am getting so nervous can’t write. You can see for yourself. Write {will} write again soon when I have more time. Am ancious to hear from you both again. Daddy and Gladys join me in love to you both.
