Mr E C McDowell was killed near his home in Edgecombe last Thursday by a falling
tree. He was cutting some firewood and a limb from a falling tree struck him on
the head and killed him instantly. He was 60 years old and left a wife and four
children. He was a good man and valuable citizen, in good health, and the sad
accident cast a gloom over this community. The remains were interred at Lawrence
Friday afternoon.
