I most humbly bequeath my soul to God my maker beseeching his most gracious acceptance of it tho the all sufficient merit and mediation of my most compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ who gave him self to be an atonement for my sines and is able to save to the utmost all that come unto God by him saving th even lived to make ????? and them and who I trust will not reject me returning penitent sinner whin I came to him for mercy in this hope and ??? to render up my soul with comfort humbly beseeching the most blessed and Glorious trinity one God most holy most merciful and gracious to prepare me from the time of my dissolution and then to take me to him self into that peace and rest and in comparable ??? city which he has prepared for those that love and fear his holy name amen bless be God ??? I give my body to the ??? from where it was taken in full assurance of its resurrection from thence at the last day as for my burial I desire it may be done without pomp as state at the discretion of my dear wife and my executor hereafter named Who I doubt not will manage it with all requisite prudence as to my worldly estate I will and positively order that all my debts be paid; Item- I give and bequeath to my dear and loving wife Mary the land and plantation where I now live during her natural life with ??? ??? then to return to my son Gray also one feather bed and furniture also one pine chest one field of corn which is called the orchard field and five hundred wate of good fat porke; Item-- I give and bequeath to my son Matthew Armstrong one tract or parcel of land which I bough of Jacob Battle with part of the home plantation beginning at the mouth of a little branch near the corner then up the said branch near the head then ??? up through the flat meadow to a log path then along the ??? path to the back line; Item-- lend to John Long the old shop place as long as he pleases to stay at it; Item-- The (Page(s) missing) After the death of my wife the remainder of my estate to be divided equally between Joseph Armstrong Elizabeth land Mary Long Susanah Armstrong and Sarah Brake; I constitute and affirm Jacob Battle and Joseph Armstrong ??? of this my last will and testament and trustees for my children in witness whereof I have unto set my hand and fix my seal this 3 day September 1798; signed Robt Armstrong; witness-Anderson Sturdivant, Wm Faulk; Edgecombe County ?? November Court 1798. The within Will of Robert Armstrong decd. was produced in open court proved by the oaths of Anderson Sturdivant and William Faulk the subscribing witnesses thereto & Joseph Armstrong one of the executors herein named was at the same time lawfully qualified thereto- Ordered that the Will be recorded; (test??)
