Written: 1761

 Barnes, Thomas, will date 13 Feb 1761, proved Jun Ct 1761; In the name 
of God Amen Thomas Barnes of Edgecombe County... being in perfect 
health mind & memory... I give unto my beloved son William Barnes the 
plantation whereon I now live, two cows & calfs, two sows & pigs, two 
pewter basons, one dish (Do) half a doz pewter plates & feather bed; I 
give and bequeath unto my beloved son, Brittain Barnes four cows & 
calfs & four sows & pigs, two pewter basons, one dish & half doz plates 
& one feather bed & 5 pds cash; I give and bequeath unto my daughter 
Mary one cow & calf; I give & bequeath unto my granddaughter (America 
Barns) one cow & calf & one sow & pigs & one feather bed; I give & 
bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife the use of all the remainder of my 
estate during her life and if my daughter, Julian Barnes is in being at 
her mother's death that that part of my estate bequeathed unto my wife 
Ann Barnes shall belong unto my daughter, Ann Barnes providing she 
shall take care of her sister, Julian during her life but if my 
daughter, Julian doth die before her mother then my will is that part 
of my estate may be divided equally between my sons, William Barnes & 
Brittain Barnes and my daughter Ann Barnes; I constitute & appoint my 
beloved sons Thomas & John Barnes executors of my Last Will & 
Testament; signed Thomas Barnes (X), wit Jacob Flowers, Philip Thomas, 
proved by Jacob Flowers & Philip Thomas and executors qualified.  Will
