I Benjamin Ruffin of Edgecombe County and State of North Carolina being weak and low and sick in body, but of Sound and disposeing mind and memory and calling to mind the frailty and uncertainty of this Mortal State, and considering that all flesth must yield unto death when it dothe please God to call; and as for settleing my Temporal Estate which it hath pleased God to bestow on me; do order give and dispose of the same in manner and form following Imprimis: I lend unto my wife Sarah Ruffin during her widohood, my Land and little Improvement whereon I now live Item I give and bequeathe unto my Daughter Winefred Dilliard, wife of Luke Dillard, one Featherbed and furniture and one pine chest which she has already in her possesion, to her heir (?) Item I give and bequeathe unto my Daughter Lucy Ruffin the coalt that my black mare Ely? shall first hereafter produce also one white faced two year old Heiffer and also three pigs called Lucies.........to her her heirs assigns ? forever Item: I give and bequeathe unto my son Gray Ruffin one black horse called fearnot and bridle and saddle called Grays, also one Red cow bout at the sale of Estate of Jesse Deloach Dec. and marked crop and half crop in the left ear, to him his heirs and ? forever Item: I give and bequeathe unto my Daughter Purity Ruffin one Feather bed of furniture and one sow and four piggs called Purities; to her her heirs and assigned forever. Item: I give and bequeathe unto my son William Ruffin one black filley called ?egion, also one cow marked crop and Slit in the right ear and half crop in the left ear also one heiffer yearling not marked, also one sow and four piggs called Willies. Them and their increase to him and his ?? Item I give and bequeathe unto my Daughter Polley Ruffin one speckled cow marked crop and half crop in the left ear also one spotted sow marked crop and half crop in the left ear them and increase to her her heirs ? Item: I give and bequeathe unto my Daughter Fathey? Ruffin one Featherbed and furniture to her her heirs and assigns forever Item: and bequeathe unto my Daughter Penney Ruffin one Feather Bed and furniture to her heirs ?? Item I give and bequeathe unto my two sons John Ruffin and Lamon Ruffin all my land before lent to my said wife Sarah Ruffin to be Equally divided between them by nunber or Quantity of acres by a line extending from the swamp out to the back line and my will is that my said son Lamon should have the improvement part of said land. My will further is that my bay mare and colt be sold at the discretion of my Exec. hereafter named. The money arising there from to be to the use and purpose of paying my Debts. Item I give unto my said wife Sarah Ruffin all the residue and remainder of my Estate of what kind or nature soever; after my Just Debts and legacies are paid to her her heirs and assigns foever. I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my friend Lamon Ruffin my whole and sole Executor of this my last will and Testament, revokeing and making void all other will ? by me made and declare this and this only to be my Last Will and Testament.
