All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Sam West - sam.west.1@gmail.com In the Name of God Amen the Twelvth day August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred And Eighty Nine, I John Biggs of Edgecomb County in North Carolina being very sick and weak in body But of sound & perfect Mind and Memory, thanks be Given Unto God for the same, and Calling to mind the Mortality of my body, and Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it, and my body I Recommend it to the Earth, to be Buried in a Christian like man- -ner nothing Doubting But at the Jenerall Resurrect- -tion I shall receive the same again by the Mighty power of God – and as Touching such worldly Estate as Where with it hath pleased God to BleSs me in this Life – I give, Devise, and Dispose of in Manner and form following, that is to say, in the first place – I give and Bequeath unto my well Beloved son James and his Heirs forever, a Tract of Land Whereon Francis Haynes now lives, containing Two Hundred acres, more or LeSs to be Divided from this by a Branch that runs this side of his Barns – Also I give to my son William and his Heirs foreve the Tract of Land Whereon I now life - - - - - - Also I give To my Daughter sarah and her Heirs forever one feather bead and furniture also one negro girl named Huldy and her Increase --------- …………………………………………………………….. Also I give to my Daugher Nancy and her Heirs for – Ever one negroe Boy named Cain ---- Also I give To my Daughter Lovie and her Heirs for – Ever one feather Bad and furniture, and one negroe Boy named JeSse - - Also I give to my Daughter Elizabeth and to her Heirs forever one feather Bead and furniture, and if my Negroe woman Lucy Shall Bear another Child I give that To her and if she shallo not Bring another Child I leave Her fifty pound to be raised out of my Estate at my wife’s Death - - - Also I give To my son Tully Three notes of hand for money one against Wm. Simmonds one against James Simmonds & one against John Symmonds., also I give him one grey Horse Called Dolphin & one Grey mair Called pegion and one Ewe and Lamb - - To him and his Heirs forever - --- also I leave one sorrel Horse to be sold – Also I Leave to the Use of my well beloved wife Bethiah and Children during her Life, all of my property and Negroes which is not Legacied above and after her Death I give To my son Tulley one feather bead and furniture, and all the Rest of the property to be Equally Divided among my Children ------------Also I Constitute, make and ordain my well beloved wife, and my son Tully my only and sole Executors of this my Last will & Testament – I do hereby DiSallow, Revoke and Dis annul all and Every other will, Testament and Legacies Bequeath, and Exr. by me, in ways before this time ………………………………………………………….
