Executors wife and son James Braswell - - to son James all my land below Watery Branch and on the north side of Mill Branch, also 1 feather bed and furniture - - to son John Braswell- 125 acres of land lying on Town Creek joining Thomas Mercers land, 1 feather bed and furniture - - son Lemon remainder of my land lying on the north side of the mill joining watery branch and up said mill branch and also one bed and furniture - - sons Zadoc and Permenter Braswell to divide equally plantation lent to their mother at her death or marriage, 1 feather bed and furniture each - - son Simon 1 negro boy called Allen and one feather bed and furniture - - granddaughter Polley Ruffin (Mary written but scratched out), daughter of Mille Ruffin 1 feather bed and furniture - - daughter Selah Ruffin, wife of (Samuel) Ruffin 5 cattle, 5 sheep, one bed and furniture already in her possession - - daughter Winney Braswell 1 negro girl called Annis, 1 feather bed and furniture - - negroes Bett, Lettus and Savory or as many of them that are alive at my wife’s death or marriage, to be divided among all my children at my wife’s death or marriage. Sign. Benjamin Braswell (Signature was poorly written, did not appear to be in the same hand as will). Witnesses Thos Mercer, Thomas Williams (X). NOTE: Lemon and Simon appear to be two different people. See Db 10, page 116. Proved by oath of Thomas Williams and executors qualified May Ct. 1792.
