Barnes, administrator of Simon Braswell, “Simon Braswell, a lunatic” died sometimes in the spring of 1827 possessed of “six negroes which is not a negro apiece for each heir at law” and the only way to equally divide the estate is to sell negroes and divide the proceeds, Aug. Ct. 1828, signed Orren D. Cohoon, Peoples Hill (X), Elizabeth (Braswell), James ( ), Lemmon Ruffin (X), Bight Ruffin (X), Gray Ruffin, Benjamin Ruffin (X), Permenter Braswell, Winny Williams (X), Zadoc Braswell. ORDER TO SHERIFF to collect $7.50 from the property of Orren D.
