PETITION FOR PARTITION OF LAND by William Braswell stating that Solomon Braswell died seized of a tract of land adjoining the lands of Richard Braswell and Reddick Braswell, court appointed Garry Fort, Bythal Bell, Geo. Bryant, Willie Wilson and Wm. Wilson commissioners. PETITION FOR DOWER AND YEARS PROVISIONS by Elisabeth Braswell, widow of Solomon Braswell, Sen. who died seized and possessed of several tracts of land containing 600-700 acres of land on the south side of Tar River adjoining the lands of Gerry Fort and others and a considerable personal estate. PETITION to divide land, William Britt and wife, ( ) Riddick Braswell and Charity Braswell and Winnie Braswell, infants by James Braswell, their guardian, Richard Braswell and Topping Braswell also an infant by said William Britt (note: this infant appears to be Nelly Braswell) and Thomas Boykin and Elizabeth, his wife petition for division of land, stating that Solomon “departed this life some time in the month of December last” intestate seized and possessed of a tract of land whereon he usually resided adjoining the lands of (Abner) Braswell, Sampson Braswell, Garry Fort, Solo. Braswell, Jun., dec’d. and others containing 600 acres and another tract purchased of Sampson Braswell adjoining the first mentioned tract containing 95 acres; besides the petitioners, who are children of said Solomon Braswell, dec’d. he left three other heirs who have all received of their father in his lifetime their equal shares of his real estate and the two tracts of land should be divided among them excluding the three who have received their shares, signed Blake Baker, for petitioners, not dated. Petition of Solomon Braswell stating that his father, William Braswell died possessed of a tract of containing about 700 acres adjoining the lands of John Sherrod, Jacob Braswell, James Braswell, and John Pender in Edge. Co. and that he died intestate in the month of January last leaving seven children and a grandchild whose father your petitioner’s brother died in the said William’s lifetime, but your petitioner charges that all the children of said William were advanced by him in his lifetime with parts of the said William’s real estate fully equal to their respective legal shares thereof except your petitioner his brother Isaac and one infant son Alexander who were not advanced at all by their father in his lifetime and petitioner asks for five freeholders to divide appropriate the said land between your petitioner and his said two brothers last mentioned.
