Written: 1903

	Bryant, Dallas will, will date 2 Dec 1902, date proved 21 July 1903, 
Edgecombe Co. wills, NC Archives file CR.037.801.5; In the name of God Amen, 
I Dallas Bryant, town of Rocky Mount and Edge. Co. being of a sound and 
disposing mind and memory .... “I give and devise and bequeath to my beloved 
wife Catherine Bryant the house and lot on which we now reside during her 
widowhood provided she does not harbor or shelter thereon her son, Augustus 
Gray for one night should she shelter him there against my expressed desire 
or should she remarry then I direct my executors to at once take charge of my 
house and lot, advertise the same” and “sell at public outcry” to the highest 
bidder and apply the proceeds after the following manner: divide equally 
between my brothers and sisters; if my wife remains single and obey my 
request not to harbor her son, Augustus Gray on my place then she shall have 
such of my personal property as is required for her personal comfort, such of 
my personal property as she does not need to be divided equally between my 
brothers and sisters; after the sell of my property, the proceeds are to be 
divided equally between my brothers and sisters and each of them or their 
representatives to give one fourth of their share to Rosa Parker, the child 
raised by me, brothers Hoarce Bryant, Richard Bryant, sisters Arabella Gray, 
Isabelle Horne, executors brother Hoarce Bryant and nephew, Pompey Horne, 
signed Dallas Bryant (X), wit. W. Lee Person, Rocky Mount, H.M. Parker, Rocky 
Mount.  Application for Letters Testimentary lists personal and real property 
valued at about $600 and Catherine Bryant, Hoarce Bryant, Richd. Bryant, 
Arabella Gray, Isabella Horne and Rosa Parker as heirs, signed Hoarce Bryant 
(X), Pompey Horne CR.037.801.5.
