Will of John Bumpus, Edgecombe County
Will Book G pg 115

In the name of God Amen. I John Bumpus of the County of Edgecombe and State of 
North Carolina do this 11th day October Eighteen Hundred and Fourty nine make 
and or devise this my last will and Testiment in the following manner and form 
Viz
Item 1st I give and bequeath unto my daughter Phereby Bumpus one feather bed & 
furniture to herand her heirs forever
Item 2nd I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Bumpus one bed & furniture 
to herand her heirs forever
3rd I give and bequeath unto my daughter Martha Bumpus one bed & furniture to 
her and her heirs forever
4th I loan unto my wife Martha Bumpus during her life or widowhood my land and 
all the residue of my estate that I may be possesed and after her death or 
marriage my will and desire is that the land and every other (species of 
loaned ?) be sold by my executor hear after named and that the proceeds to be 
equally devided between all my sons and daughters who are my legal and lawful 
heirs
I do hereby appoint my son John W Bumpus my sole executor to this my last will 
and testament In witness whereof I the said John Bumpus have here unto set my 
hand and seal the day and year above written
