Amen. I Leavin Causey of Edgecombe County and state of NC being thanks be to God of sound mind and memory and being sensible of that mind. Especially through the present weakness and infirmity of my body the uncertainty of this transitory life and being full assured of it is appointed for all men to die, that at some hour to me unknown I just depart the same, do therefore make this my last will and testament when it shall please the Lord to call my soul to Almighty God my creator hoping to attain to everlasting life through the merits and medication of my blessed savior Jesus Christ. As to my body that same convenient time after my death according to the direction of my executor hereafter named it may be committed with a Christian burial to the earth and as to the worldy estate, goods and riches with which it has pleased God to bless me: I bequeath and dispose of them in the manner following, viz Item I give and bequeath until my wife Nancy Causey one negro slave named Chain during her natural life and widowhood. Likewise one negro fellow named Ben also during her natural life or widowhood. Item I give to my wife Nancy Causey one feather bed, bedstead, and furniture forever. Item I give and bequeath to my said wife one small horse to her forever Item I give and bequeath to my said wife all my stock of cattle and hogs with all my household and Kitchen furniture during her natural life or widowhood. I give and bequeath to my son Leamon Causey the above named Negroes, Chain and Ben with all my aforementioned stocks of hoggs and cattle, household and kitchen furniture to him my son Leamon Causey forever. I give Leamon Causey one feather bed and furniture and bedstead. I give and bequeath to my wife Nancy Causey one half of if my said son Lemon Causey should die witout one heir I desire that my wife should have the use of my said estate herein mentioned during her life and after her death for it to be equally divided between her family and mine and desire that my wife shoud keep my son---- raise him. I do further desire___ and appoint my beloved wife Nancy Causey and Philip Causey Jun my whole sold executor of this my last will and testament. Disannuling all others. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of November 1793.
