Petition or Noah Bell and Rebecca, his wife, states that Charles Cromwell, the brother of Rebecca died in 1807 seized and possessed of a tract of land in Edge. Co. leaving Rebecca, Elisha Cromwell, Thence Taylor, Newsom Cromwell, and Bytha Cromwell, his heirs at law to whom the tract of land descended, Noah and Rebecca Bell, along with Bytha Cromwell, Elsa Taylor and Thence, his wife did agree to sell their shares of land to Elisha Cromwell for $120 for each one fifth share and Elisha paid to Bytha and Elsa Taylor and his wife, Thence their money but did not pay Noah and Rebecca Bell their $120 and they did not make title to land, said Elisha took possession of said land in the year 1808 and cultivated land and took profits from land until 1812 and he sold said land total of 4/5 of on 23 Mar 1812 to James Shirley, who sold land to John (Hansin) who now holds said land, said Elisha was otherwise indebted to said Noah Bell and said Noah was indebted to said Elisha by sundry notes bearing dates of 1807 and 1808, these two notes balanced each other, said Elisha died in Feb. 1812, and had not paid said Noah and Rebecca Bell for land, Redding Sugg was appointed administrator of said Elisha and sued said Noah for money owed under notes of 1807 and 1808 but did not pay for land, petition asks that Redding Sugg, pay $170 with interest from 23 March 1808.
