PETITION FOR DOWER- Nash Co. Court of Pleas and Quarter, Nov. Ct. 1865, Sophia Daughtridge, widow of Willie Daughtridge petitions for dower stating Willie Daughtridge died leaving the following children; to wit, Susan Ann, Charity E., Columbus, (Weeks), Zachariah, William R. and James Willie, who are his only heirs at law, at the time of his death he was seized and possessed of a tract of land in said county adjoining the lands of A.D. Davis, Thomas J. Braswell, Williams Winstead and others containing 204 acres and she asks the court to appoint a commission to lay off her dower portion. DOWER- By order of Feb Ct., 1865, commissioner lay off dower land for widow, Sophia Dortridge, beginning at a stake on the south side of the road then south 15 east 96 poles to a stake (dwer) corner in D.W. Winstead line then east 36 poles to a white oak then north 67 east 73 ½ poles to a pine dower corner in A.D. Davis line then north 15 west to a post oak on the south side of the road then along road to the beginning, containing 68 acres, signed 30 Jan 1866, Geo. W. Cooper, (G.D.) Langley, John R.
