Edgecombe County, NC - Wills - Webb, David File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jo Webb STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA COUNTY OF EDGECOMBE I, David Webb of the County of Edgecombe and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament. In manner and form following, that is to say that my Executor hereafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts howsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the money that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate. (1) I give and devise to my beloved wife, three feather beds and furniture and my white horse and best buggy and gear, one cart and wheels and two cows and calves and all of the hogs on hand and my home track of land known as the Brashar Track, containing one hundred acres being the same more or less, and all of the corn and fodder on hand and all of my house and kitchen furniture, except two feather beds and furniture and me brandy still and six head of geese and an apple mill. (2) I give and devise to my beloved son Elwell Webb a certain track of land known as the Harrell Track containing one hundred acres being the same more or less, and one horse mule Jim and two carts and wheels and one feather bed and furniture and one cow and calf and two shot guns and all of the plow gear an carting gear and axes and all the grub and weed hoes. (3) I give and devise to my beloved son Van Buren Webb one certain track of land known as the Guin Track containing one hundred acres being the same more or less, one young ox and red heifer. (4) I give and devise to my beloved daughter Idah Webb a certain piece of land known as the Jack Webb piece containing forty-three acres being the same more or less. (5) I give and devise to my daughter Rodah Webb one feather bed and furniture. (6) I give and devise to my son Hyrium Webb one dollar. (7) I give and devise to my daughter Christian Webb wife of Joseph Webb one dollar. (8) I give and devise to my daughter Edeath Harrell wife of Jesse Harrell one dollar. (9) I give and devise to my son John Webb one dollar. (10) I give and devise to my son Andrew Webb one dollar. (11) I give and devise to my son Spate Webb one dollar. (12) I give and devise to my daughter Sarah Webb the wife of Reddin Webb one dollar. (13) I give and devise to my daughter Catharine Webb one dollar. (14) I give and devise to my daughter Hellen Webb one dollar. (15) I give and devise to my daughter Alace Webb one dollar. (16) I give and devise to my granddaughter Tempa Webb the daughter of Marson Webb one daughter. (17) I leave to be sold if not exposed of in my life my mill with about fifty acres of land attached to the mill pond by my Executor named here after and one other piece known as the Battle land containing sixty-two acres being the same more or less, and one other piece known as the Knight piece containing sixty-eight acres being the same more or less and one other piece known as the Barron piece containing fifty-two acres more or less. I wish after all of my just debts be paid by my executor that the remainder of the money that derived from the sales of my mill and three small pieces of land be equally divided amongst all of my lawful heirs. I do here by constitute and appoint my trusty friend T A B Thorn my lawful Executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made in witness wherefore the said David Webb do hereunto set my hand and seal this the 6th day of November A.
