Edgecombe County, NC - Wills - Harrell, Amos-1909 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jo Webb North Carolina Edgecombe County I, Amos Harrell of the aforesaid County and state being of sound mind, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament. (1) My executor hereinafter named shall pay all of my just debts out of the first money’s which may come into his hands belonging to my estate. (2) I give and devise to my son Albert Harrell, for the term of his natural life, and then to his living children the following described tract of land lying and being situated in No. 9 township of the aforesaid County and State, and more particular described and defined as follows to wit: Beginning at a stake on the Sparta and Stantonsburg road a corner with B B Pittman in a branch then up the various courses of said branch to Hick Ellis corner. Then with his line to a pine stump in Richard Eason’s line. Then with Eason’s line to a stake on the Sparta and Stantonsburg road. Then with said road to the beginning containing by estimation fifty acres more or less, and being part of my home tract upon which I now live. (3) I give and devise to my son Lafayette Harrell for the term of his natural life, and then to his living children the following described tract of land in No. 9 township of the aforesaid County and State, and described and defined as follows to wit: Beginning at a stake on the Sparta and Stantonsburg road a corner with Albert Harrell as devised to him above, then down a ditch in a Westerly direction to a corner with B B Pittman in a branch, then down the various courses of said branch to a corner with Mack Owens, then with his line to a lightwood stake to a corner with Amos Phillips and Richard Eason. Then with Eason’s line to a pine, then to a stake on the Sparta and Stantonsburg road. Then with said road to the beginning, containing by estimation fifty acres more or less lying and being on the south side of the Sparta and Stantonsburg road and being the place where my said son Lafayette Harrell now lives. (4) I give and devise to my three sons Albert Harrell, Lafayette Harrell, and Thomas Harrell for the term of their natural lives, and then to their lawful children. The following described tract of land in Saratoga Township, Wilson County, State aforesaid; adjoining the heirs of the late John Barrow, the William Walston land, John Varnell, Polly Reason, and others containing one hundred and thirty three (133) acres more or less. Should either of my said sons, Albert, Lafayette or Thomas Harrell die without any lawful children, then in such event said tract of land shall go to the other’s surviving, and their lawful children. It being the same tract of land which I bought from Frank W. Barnes, and Frank Farmer and wife. (5) I give and bequeath to my son Albert Harrell, one (1) pair of cart wheels and axle. (6) I give and bequeath to my son Lafayette Harrell, one horse which I bought for him, and also one (1) top buggy. (7) I give and bequeath to my grand-daughter Kally Morgan, twenty-five ($25.00) dollars in money. (8) I give and bequeath to my daughter Matisha Harrell three hundred dollars in money. (9) I give and bequeath to my two sons Albert Harrell and Lafayette Harrell, one cotton planter, one guano sower, and one peanut planter between them. (10) I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Harrell one note for one hundred dollars which I hold against him. (11) I give and bequeath to my grandson Redden Harrell twenty -five ($25.00) in money. (12) I give and bequeath to my three sons Albert Harrell, Lafayette Harrell, and Thomas Harrell all of the remainder, and residue of my personal property and to be equally divided between them without any sale. (13) I hereby constitute and appoint my son Albert Harrell my lawful executor without bond to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause there of hereby revoking all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.
