Loose Estate Records in Raleigh State of North Carolina Edgecombe County Agreeable to an order that issued from the Court of Pleas & Quarters Sessions at February Term 1832 commanding the sheriff of said county to summons a jury of good and lawful men of this county to lay off and allot unto Sarah Edwards, widow of Simon Edward dec'd her legal dower in the lands that her late husband died seized and possessed of in the said county --all the under signed having been summoned by the said Sheriff have this day met on the premises and after being sworn agreeabily to law we preceded to lay off and allot unto her as follows. (viz) Beginning at the mouth of a small branch in the little swamp, Amason's Corner then up the various courses of said branch to a white oak a corner then along a line of marked trees being Amason's line to a pine a corner then west along another line of marked trees to a stooping hickory thence north 129 poles to a gum on the south side of the little swamp then down the various courses of said swamp to the beginning containing one hundred acres more or less including the dwelling house, out houses, orchards & where the said dec'd most generally dwelt next before his death.
